Dagen’s 3rd
Birthday
Dagen’s birthday was Tues, Aug 24.
The night before her birthday, after coming back from getting balloons at Party City, I went upstairs and found Dagen sleeping in Kallie’s bed. Lately Dagen has been so scared to sleep in her bed. She begs to sleep on the floor and sometimes after I come back up before I go to bed, she IS sleeping on the floor!
It stems back from when Isaac and Kallie would say, “Sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite!” So now she took that literally and thinks bugs will bite her in her bed. I’ve tried everything and can’t remedy it. Every night, when tucking her in, she always says, “But I scared!”
Breaks my heart!

The kids and I went to the store with her to have her pick out a gift a couple days before her birthday, ‘cause I had no clue what she wanted. She is really into Princess Tiana, coloring, and supposedly Hello Kitty (she saw Hello Kitty party decor and had to have it). Looking through both Target and Walmart, this is what she picked out. She couldn’t get it though until birthday morning.

We immediately turned on the tunes and had a dance party.

The girls all felt like they needed to dress up too and coordinate with Dagen’s dress.

(she put the hat on herself)
“Mommy, look at me. Dat bunny (funny)”

The birthday girl gets to help make the cake with Mommy. No other helpers allowed!

I thought this time, I’d venture out from the norm of simple cupcakes and made my own fondant icing and created these fancy faces for the cupcakes.

The eyes and nose are mini m&m’s cut in half and the flower cut from the fondant but dyed pink and the yellow center another m&m. I later piped some whiskers on to add the finishing touch.

So easy… the kids each made their own.

“Quick Mommy, take a picture! Hurry, I’m falling!”

Dagen wanted her hair done pretty.

We did the blow up slide in the back and a little kiddie pool.

And a pinata. I had my kids help fill it for me and it was filled to the very top. I’ve never filled a pinata before and learned that next time… only fill it halfway. There were little toys inside also, but once we lifted it up with the plastic loop up top, it cut through the cardboard from being too heavy. So we jerry-rigged it and tied the rope around the middle of it. I also poured a bag of confetti inside to add a little fun effect to it all.

She gets to wear the family birthday hat.

And the next morning we released the balloons to Balloonia. Except this time, with no success. The wind was blowing so hard, all the balloons twisted together in a knot and we had to release them all together. They didn’t go very far. The kids were sad to see they were stuck in the prickly tree.
