Cozumel, Mexico
Our group made our way to the scooter rental signs and got ourselves a deal on scooter rentals for the day. $25 a scooter.
Our plan was to drive to the Plaza Azul Hotel to lay out on the beach and relax all day. Well… as you’ll see in the next few pictures, soon after starting our drive, it poured like it’s never poured before. Well, actually, the last time we were here, it poured just like this on our scooter ride and we were cold and drenched to the core.
We found some shelter for a bit, in a nearby parking garage, to grab what things we needed to stay safe and dry, and put it inside the scooter seat compartment. My camera being the first.
As soon as we got there, just for kicks, the guys jumped into the hotel pool, fully clothed.
As we emptied out our backpacks, we soon found the damages. Becky’s book she borrowed from someone was ruined. My book from the library was also ruined. Oops!
The hard rain soon turned into a light sprinkle so the guys went out snorkeling while the ladies went and ordered some pico and guac.
We decided to go for a ride with our scooters, now that the rain had stopped. When I went out, I found Becky circling the front of the hotel. The girl was dying to ride the scooter on her own.
All along, Jason kept saying he knew where he was going, so we blindly followed him. We ended up in the middle of nowhere at a dead end. It was our little group, a raccoon scrounging for food, and a truck filled with serious-looking locals staring at us crazy tourists for daring to set foot in their territory. I wanted to get out of there, fast. So we smiled, turned around, and bolted outta there.
We passed up this cute little family on our way back.
This is what food awaited us later that night. The menu would change every night and there was no limit to how much food you ordered. The guys would order up to 3 to 4 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts every night.
Not kidding.
